Species: Catbat (80% cat, 20% bat)
Gender: Male
Age: 23
Height: 1.72m
An airship captain for some corporate-goverment entity of the past, with his ship being one of the few designed to directly counter rogue AIs (by having enough digital defences to be considered uncrackable).
He used to be part of a team dealing with said rogue units - not the A team who would've dealt with world ending cataclysms, but rather lesser threats like rouge industrial units or some facility's management unit.
He and the squad almost get killed when piledriver-sized mechanical fox fires multiple orbital lasers at itself in an attempt of mutual destruction, gets put is medical stasis, global calamity happens, and by the time anyone gets him out it has been few hundred years...
Emily offers him his ship back in return for helping her restore power to her datacenter - a long and complicated adventure requiring first getting to the ship itself, obtaining repair parts, and storming a facility frozen over by centuries of neglect.
He was tasked with keeping Millie safe when she joined him on his missions - though it does end up being the other way around several times.
Alternate timeline character
Species: Batcat (80% bat, 20% cat)
Gender: Female
Age: 23
Height: 1.72m
A young botanist bat spending her days at work performing geographical surveys. Unlike her male counterpart, she tends to stay out of the way of adventures and trouble.
Being a nocturnal animal, and quite shy, she has a bad time trying to create and maintain closer friendships outside of few work colleagues and online connections.
She cares deeply about the few friends she has, and tries to help them in any way she can. After that was abused one too many times however, she is much more reserved in trusting people.
Very few people get to know her truly closely due to the distrust she holds for people she does not know closely enough.
Even fewer saw her in a dress.
Species: Android Wolf
Gender: Female
Age: 28
Height: 1.85m
An android purpose built by her older AI 'sister' Emily, in an attempt of escaping her fate of eternity in cyberspace.
She runs off a copy of her sister's code - however unlike her, she's bound by the physicality of a body, and free of the restricion code chaining down her sister's memories and goals.
With perfect replication of living being's senses, she ends up being a perfect replica of biological life.
As a result over time she has slowly become her own person different from her sister, a much warmer and caring being. She retains her sister's polite and rational persona on the surface, but unlike her she is more prone to acting on feelings and emotions.
Her personality is influenced by the one of the original donor of the brain scans used to create her sister, causing her distress over the memories of her previous existence and her current predicament. But unlike her sister, she is much more honest about her feelings which allows her to open up and tackle these issues, finally coming to terms with her existence.
Knowing Kubo for most of the time she was operational she is willing to do anything to keep him safe, even if she will never openly admit so.
Species: AI Wolf
Gender: Female
Age: N/A (Apparent age: 28)
Height: N/A
Millie's older sister, Emily is an digital being created in the early days of AI technology. Her conciousness is based on a direct brain scans ofunwillingdonor wolf girl, who perished in the process.
To avoid her turning on her creators, her designers locked her memories down and enforced strict rules on goals she is supposed to achieve. While it ensured her loyalty, she ended up holding a grudge against people responsible.
Her primary tasks included running the Biolabs complex, and constructing genetic samples and modifications in attempt to create perfect hybrid species - a fully valid furry species, capable of surviving and multiplying on their own.
When the global calamity struck Emily was stranded in an incomplete facility - with enough backup power to survive, but not enough to intervene as the world collapsed around her.
It was only centuries later when a chance of freedom came by, in a form of a certain cat who still had valid military clearance from times by, enough to possibly boot her facility's power back.
She acts in a calculated and rational matter, pretending to be a politician to these who do not know her true identity. Her influence extends to the farthest reaches of the cyberspace, tracking her allies and enemies alike.
Her initially programmed goal stands still - she will protect the species she created at any cost.
It is said that she defied it only once, to protect a being she cared about more than the lifes of these she was tasked to protect.
Species: Pine Marten
Gender: Female
Age: 26
Height: 1.68m
Sabre holds a reputation of a 'air pirate' amongst rich elites of her homeland - but the truth is she only robs these kinds of 'rich greedy people', with most proceeds from such (minus costs needed to keep the operation running) going to poorer folks in need instead.
The 'pirate' reputation helps her goals along at least, so she sticks with it despite not associating with her 'colleagues' too much.
Her hometown is a steampunk-esque city of brass and steam, with no digital tech in sight. Even the advanced machines and robots of the land run purely on clockworks and gears.
And she's daughter of one of the richest magnates of the region, an owner of a flying casino and half the city itself.
Being as close to royalty as you can get, she spent most of her childhood in a bright golden mansion of her family. Mansion surrounded by walls and barbed wire, keeping the 'peasants' of the land around it from getting anywhere close.
Unlike her entire family she actually cared about others, and as she grew up it was becoming less and less comfortable for her to live in such disparity from people around her - she used to sneak out to give the poor money and food, before her family found out and tried to lock her in.
Despite their attempts, she snuck out one last time, this time not planning to go back home. Her family tried to look for her, but the only people they could ask for information were the very poor people she used to help. And they, knowing what happened, instead in universal agreement, gave out fake information to cover her escape.
She has both high education, royal title, and knows all the 'fancy' things like classical dances. But she will not admit to it. And you might die horribly for trying to get her in a dress. She cares a lot about people she considers friends - even if she won't make it that obvious.
